Sawyer’s practice primarily consists of litigating cases involving commercial disputes, employment law, and contested estate and probate matters. Prior to joining us, Sawyer was a litigation and employment associate first at Witherspoon Kelley Davenport & Toole P.S. and then at Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley, LLP. Sawyer also previously worked as a law clerk for Judge Tracey Wollenberg on the Alaska Court of Appeals.
Sawyer earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Gonzaga University and his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law, where he graduated within the top third of his class and was a member of both the Moot Court Honor Board and the Washington Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. During law school, Sawyer worked as an extern for Judge Edward F. Shea in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington and Judge John C. Coughenour in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. Sawyer has also worked as a Rule 9 intern at the Snohomish County Public Defender Association.
Sawyer's practice focuses on commercial disputes, employment law, and contested estate and probate matters, and general business law.

Gergawy v. United States Bakery, Inc., 2:19-CV-00417-SAB, 2022 WL 395308 (E.D. Wash. Feb. 8, 2022) (prevailed on motion for summary judgement and sanctions dismissing plaintiff’s claims for workplace discrimination and wrongful retaliation).
Jones v. Grant Cty. Hosp. Dist. No. 1, 2:19-CV-00264-SAB, 2021 WL 2445616 (E.D. Wash. June 15, 2021) (prevailed on motions for summary judgment dismissing a former employee’s claims for employment discrimination, retaliation, and workplace harassment).
Brian Lee Riley v. KHQ Cowles Publishing Group, Spokane County Superior Court, Docket No. 20-2-01759-32 (convinced plaintiff in a defamation suit to dismiss all claims with prejudice).
Shonto Pete, et al v. City of Airway Heights, et al, Spokane County Superior Court, Docket No. 1902094795-32 (prevailed on summary judgment motion to dismiss class action lawsuit brought against the Cities of Cheney and Airway Heights), affirmed on appeal, 2021 WL 4060305, (Wash. Ct. App. Sept. 7, 2021), review denied, 2022 WL 304686 (Wash. Feb. 2, 2022).
Shonto Pete, et al v. City of Airway Heights, et al, Spokane County Superior Court, Docket No. 1902094795-32 (prevailed on motions to dismiss all claims brought against a municipal court commissioner and separate writ of mandamus claims brought against the Cities of Cheney and Airway Heights).
Brown v. BWSR, LLC, ARB No. 2019-0060 (granting summary dismissal); affirmed on appeal, ALJ No. 2019-ERA- 00003 (February 19, 2020).
